Well done locating this record. A Ferraro/Ferraio was a Blacksmith. Are you okay reading the rest of this record. Let me know if you would like it translated.

You may find the following interesting and helpful in determining various Italian occupations. This ofcourse isn't a complete list but it's a good one: http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~mmange/g ... ngocc.html

Thank you sooo much Angela! I'm getting better at navigating these records but some things I get stuck on still. I appreciate your help
ETA: I *think* these are the parents of Domenica Ciancarelli (b.1895) who emigrated to the USA. She had brother Luigi born in 1882 and brother Guido born in 1887. On the kids' US death record, parents are listed as Felice or Felix Ciancarelli and Luigi's names mother as "Mary Seno". I've been digging a great deal in the Scanno records and I believe these are the parents. I wish I had later records but finding that marriage notation makes me believe this is the right couple!

It's a really a good list. I downloaded it to my computer years ago and as I come across new occupations or new spellings of occupations I add them to my list. There are other lists as well, some of which are specific to various locations, which I have downloaded, but this is my preferred one.vagabond wrote: 14 Mar 2019, 01:38I edited too haha! Eventhough the surname Seno is Italian, I believe that the surname in Scanno is "Sero". I've checked today's Italian white pages: https://www.paginebianche.it/ricerca?qs=Seno&dv=Scanno and also the ten yearly indices for Scanno: http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... decennali/vagabond wrote: 14 Mar 2019, 01:27 Thank you sooo much Angela! and there is no evidence of the name "Seno" there but plenty of the name "Sero". There was obviously an error made on the US death record with the Maria's surname.
My thought is, that if you are absolutely sure that Domenica Ciancarelli's brothers were Luigi and Guido and their date's of birth, you could write to the State Archives in L'Aquila and request a copy of the Lista di Leva for one of the brothers, which should have the parent's correct names. It's just a thought. (When I first started going back to my Italian roots I was unable to locate my paternal grandfather's birth record so requested his Lista di Leva and it gave me his birthdate and so much more.)

Re: Translation help - birth record
I may have to write - I have birth dates for Guido and Domenica, but I don't necessarily trust those dates - there are too any things that change in the USA, our records are really not good at all.
It's really the only way to be absolutely certain however. How do I write to them?? Is there instructions? I've never written to another country for records, I've always found someone to find them for me lol!!!! (The czech republic was probably the most challenging, however prices very reasonable)...
Is there a site where someone can do a birth record look up? I don't mind paying as long as it's not insane prices (the quote for research from Sweden was nuts!!!!)
