Having trouble finding Marriage and Divorce records

Before my grandmother married my grandfather she was married and divorced once. I am going back and doing the research, but it is very difficult to try to find the records on microfilm. I think the records are in Houston, so this seems like a huge search. She is 92 years old and cannot remember, I ...

Is a petition for naturalization good enough?

NARA is sending me the petition, but they said the INS has the actual certificate of naturalization. Do I need the oath and naturalization certificate or will a certified petition suffice?

Re: Obtaining Italian Passport and Citizenship through Marri

You know this really has the potential to cause a lot of emotional problems... If not with you then it could with the other person. Problems could actually surface years down the road when one of you decides to actually marry for love. Marriage should be taken very seriously and so should divorce ...

Marriage and divorce

My grandmother was married and divorced once before she married my grandfather. Would this cause her to lose Italian citizenship or break the jure sanguinis chain? She was born here in the U.S. I think her first husband was also born here in the U.S., he was also an Italian American.

Her father was ...

Italian/Sicilian Cuisine!

I would love to hear about some of your favorite Italian recipes passed down in your families. Or just some of your favorite Italian foods. My mom did not like cooking, so very little was passed down to me. Food is one of the most enduring and fun pieces of a culture.

One recipe that was passed ...

Re: Do I have to bother my grandmother?

[align=justify] Actually if your grandmother is the line carrier there are some consulates which will actually require her to "reclaim" her citizenship via Juris Sanguinis before your mother (or you for that matter) would be able to apply. I assume she was not married to a Native Born Italian who ...

Do I have to bother my grandmother?

I'm happy so far it looks like I have a clear path to obtain citizenship.

I got off the phone with my great uncle earlier and he said that my great grand father became a US citizen in 1946. Also another relative has his italian birth certificate, but I dont know how hard it will be to get in touch ...

Thanks!

Does that mean that Italian citizenship was not passed on to Ben? Or that he just filed an intent to become a citizen?

Re: Provenzano, Corleon Sicily

Right now I am looking at the 1910 census. Does it show that Matt Provenzano becomes a naturalized citizen? I'm new to doing this type of research, but it looks like it says 1901 PA. For another Immigrant it says NA

Is there a difference?

Provenzano, Corleon Sicily

I am trying to find out more information about my great grandfather to find out how he was naturalized.

I've always been told by my parents that he told them he came over on a boat from Corleon Sicily as a teen, when I look at a 1930 census on Ancestry it shows that he was born here in the US, but ...
