I had forgotten that I had been pursuing this last year too (kind of ironic that I am literally a few days past the 12mos mark!) - I always end up circling back to her and the lack of "closure" I have from researching her and no death date.

Maria (Genovese) Ferrara B. Aug 1845 Alimena, Sicily, Italy
M. Ignazio Ferrara (Ferrari on his death certificate) B. 1837 Polizzi Generosa D. Apr 10 1900 NY
Found her in 1920 Census Brooklyn, NY
Found her in 1925 NY State Census Brooklyn, NY

5 Children: Vincenzo 1865/Rosa ...

Genovese is her maiden name - Ferrara her married name and her daughter Rosa Ferrara married Michele Seminara (my G Grandparents)

Her children are: Vincenzo /Rosa (Seminara) / Giovanni / Francesca (Ambrosini) / Luigi Ferrara

Maybe I have the wrong person in 1925 (but the town of Alimena is correct ...

Here is what I know:
1900 Census - Pawling NY - Living with oldest son Vincenzo Ferrara 2 mos after being widowed
1910 Census - Manhatten NY - Listed as Mary Genovese (maiden name) Living next door to grandson's family and down the street from middle son's family John Ferrara
1920 Census - Brooklyn ...

She was listed as head of household for both documents - she was the widow of Ignazio and
Ferrara is the spelling the family uses - however Ignazio's death certificate has is listed as Ferrari.

I don't think I have a copy of the census saved - let me look

AND once again this site just AMAZES me - THANK YOU TESSA!!!

I haven't dug deeper than the simple Bith/Dreath/Marriage records as the Allegati's have all been long-hand italian and those are WAY TOO much for me just yet.

So how did you find his information so easily - I have literally been going ...

I have begun researching the Italian documents for my ancestors and found my g-grandparent's marriage record (1884).
I can't figure out what is written in the father's information section and found it odd that my ggrandfather Lino Seminara had the same surname as his mother Rosa Seminara - any ...

I spent all day yesterday looking for her in the census and for her DOD (still can't locate that) so I can cross-reference her husband's death and the location of the grave. You have helped me narrow it down by another 15 years - thank you so much!!

Yes that is the 1900 from Pawling
I have attached the jpg of the 1910 - 1920

In 1910 she is going under her maiden name Genovese
