Re: TOP 10 MISTAKES
Definitely, not talking to relatives soon enough is one's biggest mistake or rather regret. I have come to rely heavily on family legends and folklore, no matter how outlandish some of the stories may have sounded, the more I have investigated the more convince that these stories were true. Of ...

Re: Easter Bread
I know what babas are and no, that's not it. There was nothing baked inside the bread/cake. It was very dense, dry and yellow - I know it was made with lots of egg yolks, giving it it's rich yellow color and flavor. Had a slight anise flavor. From all that has been posted here, and my on line ...

Re: census info for Giovanni Tavonne and Anna Maria Maucieri
My family is from Bonefro. I know that there are a lot of Tavones who migrated to RI from Bonefro. Unfortunately, I am unable to make the connection, although I am sure were are somehow related. My great-grandfather's name was Domenico, but he is not the Domenico found in the records that are ...

Re: census info for Giovanni Tavonne and Anna Maria Maucieri
I highly doubt we would find anything on Domenico (Frank). Family folklore says he entered the US illegally after fleeing Italy to avoid being prosecuted for murder. Yes, the unfortunate dark side of Italian heritage. In the US, he was also involved in criminal activity.
