Re: Sprufera / Sprofera
Can we research Profera? I received an email that I will follow up on that indicates their family name from Siciliy is Profera - but they speculated the "S" could have been silent and in coming to NYC in the early 1900's it was interpreted as Profera? Any thoughts? Part of my family spells the name ...

Re: Spadafera / Spadafora
Thank you for your help. However, at this point we don't want to assume, we would like to try to find the original name. We have several variations of my Great Grandmothers Maiden name (La Monte) which we can tie directly back to Mezzojuso. What we are trying to find is where my Great Grandfather's ...

Re: Sprofera Loscalzo
Thanks DW - yes, that is her. With some good ole Yankee ingenuity, I was able to find a great neice of hers and have been told she is alive at age 96. I hope to have some direct contact with her at some point.
Thank you for sending this

Sprofera Loscalzo
How do I find someone from 1972? I am looking for a neice in my family that I know lived in NYC in 1972. Her name is Josephine Sprofera Loscalzo. I believe she married possibly a Rocco Loscalzo. Should I start with census and then where do I go? I think if she is still alive, she could provide great ...

Re: Spadafera / Spadafora
Yes, Laura you are correct :) I do however have a family member who is still pretty convinced that the Sprufera / Sprofera name is in some way directly related to the location of Spadafora ??? (I should have been more clear in this explanation - sorry :( - and to this point I am unable to find ...

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to track family through cemetary records? I am looking for Josephine Sprufera/Sprofera - maiden Italian name Guiseppa La Monte. I believe she died around 1934 in NYC and was probably buried with my Great Grandfather John (Giovanni) Sprufera / Sprofera in Calvary ...

Re: Sprufera - Farina Connection
Valarie - are you able to find anything on a Domenicia or Domenica Sprufera/ sprofera - maiden name Farina? I believe she is my Great Grandmother, but I have no other information on her. She would have been married to Joseph Sprufera - both who were born in Italy. Not much info but it is all I have ...
