help with English to Italian translation, please?

Using an on-line translator, I have written a response to a letter that I have received from Italy. I don't expect it to be perfect, but if anyone could please read it to see if there are any major errors (or something rude or improper), I would appreciate your help!! Thank you very much!

Re: please help with translation of a letter from Italy...

Peter,

Sorry about that! I should have really phrased my posting more clearly. I understand some Italian, and part of what Ottavio is saying in general throughout most of the letter, but I certainly do not completely understand most of what he has written. And with my limited understanding, I want ...

please help with translation of a letter from Italy...

Ciao a tutti!!

A few months ago, I sent letters to four people with my surname in the same town in Nicastro (Lamezia Terme) where my grandparents were born, in the hope that someone there might know of my grandfather and grandmother. [I found their names at PagineBianche.it].

I was thrilled ...

What do the initials "PI" stand for before someone's name (i.e.,
PI Domenico Sacco) listed in the Italian white pages?
Thanks!!!

I have also been trying to find information regarding my paternal grandparents -- my grandmother's maiden name was Rosa Sacco. Both were from Calabria, however. Good luck in your search. If you happen to find any information that you think might be helpful to me, would you mind sharing ...

help with unknown word on manifest, please?

I am reviewing a line on a ship manifest. The handwriting is generally very clear and easy to read. Under "calling or occupation" is written "laborer possident". Does this make any sense? I thought perhaps the second word could have been "peasant" but that word is clearly written on another line ...

Re: occupations

I'm not sure about "countryman."
On quite a few manifests, I've also noticed "peasant" as an occupation.
Perhaps countryman is a slightly more polite way to say the same thing??

Re: occupations

Hello Senior!
I posed a similar question a few days ago regarding the names crossed out on the ship manifests. Please check the very helpful responses that I received on that posting.
