Re: Occhiogrosso from Bitetto

I don't know that we had any relatives living in the Bronx, but all the names you mentioned Angelina, Frank, Tom, and Dominic are all names that I think are typical of that area at that time - including Giacomo (Jack) and Jenny. I think you should start your own thread so that you can ...

Re: Irish forum???

Thanks so much for responding and trying the Wayback machine. I will contact him and hopefully there is some backup somewhere.

I am such an idiot for just leaving it there and not copying the information immediately.

There are no words for how I feel. I am so disgusted with myself!

Re: How accurate are DNA tests?

This is such a great thread - thanks for all the conversation about this. I was just thinking yesterday about getting one.

The Etruscans are pretty ancient. I wonder how far back the DNA can take you?

Re: 1958 SHIP RECORDS

Hi MJ,

I'm sorry I don't have the answer to your question, but the one thing I do know is that Ellis Island closed in 1954 as an immigration point, so it definitely wasn't there.

I'm sure somebody else here will know the answer.

Good luck,

Obituary

Is there any online searchable database - or individual newspapers - that can be searched to look for an obit from 1978 on in the Bari area?

Thanks,

Bari Surname help please

I'm not sure if this belongs in Handwriting or Surname but here goes:

Throught a stroke of pure luck, while cleaning out a box, I happily discovered a letter from 26 years ago from my grandfather's sister Rosina.
It was in an envelope mailed from her niece's house. I think I stuck her letter in a ...

aiescavol (Mike)

I asked my uncle about Squicciarrini. He couldn't remember how we were related to them or IF we were but if this helps you:
He said there were 2 families that lived in Brooklyn right in the same neighborhood where he lived.

He said 1 Squicciarrini family lived on Jackson Place and ...

Re: Occhiogrosso from Bitetto

Ok - understood. I was wondering about that Providence and underneath it said R.Y. I was thinking R.I. for Rhode Island.

Also 149 Throop Avenue makes much more sense from what I know of the neighborhoods at the time. 407 7th Avenue I think was more of a "rich" neighborhood as it was near Prospect ...
