Re: Sucess in Los Angeles

Steve,

Congrats. I had the same woman a year ago next week. She told me it would be 8 months. I'm still waiting. I called her and spoke with her in February and she told me then that they were processing January 2010 then. So it looks like 16 months for me or double the time she told me and my file ...

Re: L.A. Consulate

Yes they would. She told me if we were looking for work, etc. they would expedite. At the time, we weren't planning it. But we went to Italy in October and may go again in April.

I may fedex a letter. They don't answer their e-mails and I can't get her on the phone.

So I just wait.

One person ...

Re: L.A. Consulate

I met with Raffaella Alsschuler. Very nice. Said my paperwork for me, my wife and my son was flawless. And my application was accepted. It would take about 8 months to get my passport letter depending upon the commune (Naro, Sicily).

A few weeks ago I called and was told by someone on the phone ...

Re: L.A. Consulate

I had my appointment last April 22, was told my petition was successful but have yet to receive a firm written confirmation or a letter about the passport.

I was told it would take 8 months. Still waiting.

Re: Got my passport and now for my husband and mother?

hey cdevita,

How long did it take for you to get your citizenship letter and passport in LA. I think you were slightly ahead of me. I had my meeting on April 22 and was told everything was good and I'd be accepted. And it would take about 8 months for me to get the call back for my passport.

It's ...

Re: Licata Agrigento

my great grandmother's name was Licata and lived in Racalmuto which is the town next to Grotte. My grandmother's (her daughter's) name was Cannisi.

I too am trying to hunt down Licatas. Didn't know they were all in Grotte.

Re: Naturalization papers Brooklyn NY

USDC does not have copies. They look at the NARA certified docs, check their records and issue their certification of the NARA certification. They did not have any certificates of naturalization as I asked the clerk all this.

Re: Naturalization papers Brooklyn NY

I had a strange experience with USCIS. My first request came back with a "Not Found" certified letter. I sent them a second request. The documents I received from NARA were the same as those from USCIS - neither had the certificate. I sent them a third request (just for fun) after already having my ...

Re: Naturalization papers Brooklyn NY

Gina,

I'd go through NARA first. They were amazingly quick. If NARA has the docs, you don't need USCIS. USCIS takes at least 3 months. I didn't need USCIS, I did it anyway.

Make it easy on yourself. Get NARA docs, certify US DC. End o' story.

Re: Naturalization papers Brooklyn NY

acupxpa,

my mistake, mine was in the southern district. no matter. the federal court certifies the NARA docs. NARA didn't supply my certificate. USCIS did along with the same documents as NARA. the certified copy of the petition and oath of allegiance are from NARA and the USDC certifies them ...

Re: Naturalization papers Brooklyn NY

My gf was naturalized in USDC Eastern District. I received a copy of his papers from NARA that was certified by them and bound with a red ribbon. I then sent those documents to the US District Court in Manhattan and they created a letter with the Court Clerk's seal stating that my gf was naturalized ...

Success in LA

I had my appointment in LA yesterday. The official stated my paperwork was "flawless" and we're in! (me, my wife - married in 1981 - and my 11 year old son).

We went through my living NYC-born mother whose father was born in Italy but was naturalized after she was born. I was born after 1948. My ...

Re: Amending my own birth certificate

thanks Johnny,

I was going to bring it up and tell them. They'll probably be a few short day's lag, if any.

I was just wondering if it was the kind of thing to postpone my meeting. But I was going to "play dumb" and think it only a "discrepency" that I had to list.

BTW, I didn't even catch this ...

Amending my own birth certificate

I've read some of the last posts about amendments.

I have an appointment in LA in 3 weeks. I am going through my mother. On my NYC birth certificate, her maiden name is misspelled - the last letter is "i" instead of "a".

I am having the birth certificate amended as we speak but I sent it to NYC in ...
