Re: Citizenship through Marriage NYC

My wife and I had our appointment on June 3 for my citizenship through marriage in NYC. Overall, not bad, but Abtran had messed up and scheduled our appointment as "citizenship through descent". They did not like that at the consulate and first told us we'd have to make another appointment. We put ...

Where to get "letter of good conduct" in Louisiana

I am applying for my citizenship through my wife, and I need to get a "letter of good conduct" from Louisiana since I lived there from 1998 to 2004. Does anyone know which department in Louisiana I should contact, and do you have a website address for that department. Thanks!

Re: Paperwork needed to move to Italy with my family for 1 y

My wife did have our marriage certificate authenticated, translated, and appostilled during her application and the NY consulate accepted it without question. Wouldn't that mean as part of the process, they would forward it onto the comune for registration in the commune's files?

Thanks!

Paperwork needed to move to Italy with my family for 1 year

Hello all. My wife recently had her appointment in the NY consulate to acquire her Italian citizenship. The appointment went very well, they took all of her paperwork, and they indicated she and my son will be recogized as Italian citizens in 5 or 6 months. This of course was a complete shock to us ...

Re: Phialdelphia requirement and divoce decree proof

The clerk in CT also had no idea what the certificate was called or what is was used for since nobody ever asks for such a thing. A quick call to the law librarian at the court cleared it up for the clerk and he filled out the letter. I have no idea how it works in any other state, but it is an ...

Re: Phialdelphia requirement and divoce decree proof

What they want to go along with the divorce decree is something called a "certificate of no appeal". That certificate certifies that the divorce is final and cannot be appealed by anyone. You can get it by going back to the place where you got a copy of the decree and ask for the certificate of no ...

USCIS - remove staple?

I am applying GGF-GF-F-me in NYC. I originally ordered the NARA documentation of my GGF's naturalization (intention, petition and oath). Because of discrepencies in my GGM's name and marriage date, I thought that I could avoid any potential problems and get just the certificate from USCIS. However ...

Re: NY Consulate - getting a sooner Appt.

Unfortunately the email address for Mark Kidney is no longer in use. I broke down and called abtran to ask about cancellations. I was told that they do not re-schedule cancelled appointments. This may only apply to New York. So, despite being told to write an email when my documents were ready ...

I will give it a try and let you know what happens. I am ready as I can be without knowing what problems NY might find.

Re: Faustina Lucilia - naming an orphan

Thank you so much for this information. This is exactly what I wanted to know and it fits the situation. I do only have the estratto, so I will request a copy of the original. I had been looking for this last name everywhere, so it makes sense that it was "invented." I will keep searching for where ...

NY Consulate - getting a sooner Appt.

When I scheduled my appointment, Abtran said that if my documents were ready, I could request a sooner appointment if there are any cancellations. Has anyone been succesful in requesting an appointment sooner than the Abtran scheduled date?
Thanks.

Faustina Lucilia - naming an orphan

My GGM was born in 1876 in Fondi. Her birth certificate does not list parents and I had been told by my GF as a child that his mother was an orphan. So, who gave her the last name Lucilia. I have come across some standard names used for abandoned children, but Lucilia is not one of them. Is it ...

Re: Alien Registration Number- Naturalized in Brooklyn

You do not need the index card for your appointment, this is just so NARA can locate the documents you need. Bring it to NARA on Varick Street and they will find the documents you need. Let them know that you need a certified copy. The naturalization paperwork does not need to be apostilled or ...

Corrado, Thank you for sharing the affidait. Has anyone ever tried using something like this with the NY consulate? If so, what were the results?
