Re: Help? I cannot find naturalization documents!

Swanson5467 I am experiencing the same confusion. My paternal grandfather filed a declaration of intent, but I can not find a record of him ever becoming a citizen. In fact, his last census before he died just has him listed with “Pa” indicating first papers were filed.

Re: LDS discontinuing microfilm rentals

I just noticed that LDS has finally begun indexing Palermo records!

If there is anyone on this site who would be capable of reading the records (in Italian) and transcribing them, it would be a great service to all of us who have ancestors from Palermo!

I am hoping to try my best at doing some ...

Re: Pottery Makers

Many of the members of my family tree from my Father's side (Nasca) were "stazzonaro." They lived in Palermo, Sicily.
They were artisans who worked with clay to make earthenware (it is a dialectal word) This is a link to an article about this old tradition:

However, none of the records that I need are indexed. And each time I check the indexing projects, the towns I need are still ...

Re: Searching for our grandfather

Heather,

Welcome to the forum.

If you know your biological grandfather's name, family name, and his parents' names, as well as the town in Italy he is from, there is a great deal of information you might be able to find. I would recommend that you list all the particulars that you know on this ...

Re: I need help translating a birth Certificate

On the first of June, 1891, Giuseppe (age 23, landowner) appeared before the civil authorities of Viterbo to report the birth of his daughter, Maria Giuseppa. The baby was born to his wife, Lucifa Morini, on the 31st of May.

This is the main portion of the translation. The remainder is the names of ...
