Re: Death in Ferruzzano in the 1900s
Have you tried the films at your local Family History Center?

Death in Ferruzzano in the 1900s
Hello - I am at a loss as to how determine when my ancestor Pasqualina Viglianti passed away. She is my great great grandmother and she lived in Ferruzzano, Reggio Calabria. Last mention of her I find is on the arrival of her daughter to the United States in 1911 when she reports her mother as still ...

Re: surname: Marando origin: Ferruzzano, RC
An update -- I've confirmed the connection to Agata/Achita - and have found the descendants of that branch. This was the older sister to my great grandfather.
I now have the names and DOB of my great grandfather and his siblings:
Agata (AKA Achita AKA Catuzza) b .13 Aug 1882
Giovanni (AKA John) b ...

Re: Ferruzzano
A word of thanks to everyone on this thread. I traced the family that seemed to have most likelihood of being that of my great grandfather's sister Agata, and learned there were two remaining daughters of Agata and wrote them a letter a few weeks ago. Last night I received a reply from their niece ...

Re: Italy Land Registry Records www.italianlaw.net
Did Italian Succession Law change? I was told that the property used to pass only to male heirs. Was it always equal distribution or was there gender discrimination, or if it changed, when did that change occur?

Re: Ferruzzano
I conducted extensive research on that family in the census from 1920-1940 and it looks like a very strong chance of being the right one. I just sent a letter to each of the two remaining daughters, and hoping that they are in good health, I shall wait for a reply from them or their families.

I don't have that. (I wish I did have it!) This was provided to me by someone who had gathered some data on Ferruzzano for other purposes. I don't think these have been indexed. And thank you once more!

Re: Ferruzzano
Mary - thank you for that background information.
Is it likely to be used with Agata?
Where we find it is on the online catalog for finding gravesides at Holy Sepulcher in Rochester which returns the following:
Cordello Catuzza AKA Agnes Age: 66 Burial Date: March 28, 1949

Re: Ferruzzano
Wow. It will take me some time to study these closely - but this is impressive. Thank you for this!
It has me wondering about the different names people go by -- Agnes for Agata, and the name Catuzza which comes up on the other thread. I had only seen Catuzza as a surname previously, perhaps ...
