Re: What did our Italian Ancestors do for Fun

Tarocchi? It was popular in previous centuries so it might have been popular in certain regions in the 19th century, too. I think there were tournaments in very recent years if I'm not mistaken. The decks didn't catch on for card-game purposes here in the US though. But I guess "divination&quo...

Re: Same Couple?

I don't agree on either point. I think the hair is simply the way it is combed. The facial features and ear match IMHO. The woman to me has a very distinct overall appearance I see in both photos. I have photos of my own mother taken A YEAR apart that look like totally different people (but they ar...

I looked at both photos carefully, and it looks like the same couple to me.

I haven't heard about it. I did a Google search and couldn't find anything. Is it recent?

Re: Easter Pies

My mother and I pulled out the Easter pies and bread recipes this morning. Later, my friend and I were discussing the baking differences between his sausage and rice pies and mine. That reminded me of THIS thread that I started four years ago (and nobody responded to). Lol. :D For our sausage pie, ...

Re: Surname

And, like I said before, I'm not sure if the House of Names is accurate for all names. But it has been accurate with the Irish and English surnames from my paternal line.

Re: Surname

Is the origin of my last name Italian? Also, if it is what part of Italy? And when does it date back to? Is it french?(god forbid...) From House of Names: "The surname Fioravanti was first found in Pistoia, when a Fioravante was a member of the government council in the city." According t...

Here's a variant. You might have already seen this with a google search. I'm not sure if the "House of Names" is accurate. Just thought I'd post it in case.

Re: Native American genealogy

Lol. Maybe. But since he gave his company an Indian name and embraced Indian culture, I doubt it. I don't get my father for pulling towards a heritage that's not his own. It's kind of creepy in my opinion. He descended from European royals and warriors. He should have "gotten to know" them...

Re: Native American genealogy

I've never heard of anyone finding documentation of a Native ancestor without looking for it. As a matter of fact, I haven't heard of anyone finding a Native ancestor even when they searched high and low. Most true Native descendants are accounted for and members of a tribe. My fair-skinned, tall, b...
