How interesting, thank you.
Utica, New York is still a hotbed of gossip and rumors. It hasn't changed much, LOL.

Translation of newspaper article.
I found mention of my great-grandmother within an issue of Il Pensiero Italiano, via google book search.
She was a mid-wife.
Could someone please translate for me? See attached.
Thank you.

Re: Having trouble finding info on my great grandparents
Did some searching on MyHeritage (I have a paid account).
Found a FamilySearch tree with a Salvatore Sorrnti who married Maria Russo on 11/25/1911, in Rochester.
Went directly to FamilySearch and searched for Sorrnti and pulled up the document. They're on the bottom of the right-hand page of the ...

Re: Having trouble finding info on my great grandparents
Any ideas of where I could look to find info on parent names.
There are several courses of action you could take.
Their death certificates may have their parent's names listed. You can request genealogy copies from Monroe County:

Do you know when Lorenzo and Rosalia passed away?
Did Rosalia have a brother Anthony Calato, who died in Buffalo on 11/16/1954?

Are you located in Italy or the US?
Where in NY state did your ancestors reside?
Or did they only pass through NY at Ellis Island?
Do you find them in the census?
If you know where and when they were born, married or died in the US, you can request the corresponding document from the municipality ...

Re: Deciphering a passenger list.
Thank you. Since Giuseppa Picceri became a citizen, should I be able to find some sort of naturalization records?
Line 1 is my grandfather's aunt. I'm curious if line 12 is her sister.
I've attached the next page of the list.

Deciphering a passenger list.
For the Picceri family members on this passenger list (see attached), can anyone decipher what it says in column 11 (for lines 1 and 12)?
??? Picceri ???
For other entries in column 11, it's obviously relation surname name.
Thank you.
