Tracing my great-grandparents

Post by slabarber »

Hello,

My husband has come here for assistance and recommended that I inquire about having a helping hand.

For father's day, I created an ancestry book for my dad with pictures, the family tree, and print outs of records. We were successful tracing back 8 generations on my father's mother's side. On his father's side, not so much.

I know that my great grandfather was born in 1852 - 1854, named Lorenzo LaBarbera in Vicari or Villafrati. He married Rose Calato, who was born in 1866. Both immigrated to Niagara Falls, NY. I know this information due to the 1900 and 1920 US Census that I have.

Do you have any suggestions where I could locate their marriage record or family info such as parents and siblings?

Thank you for your time. Stefanie

If your great grandfather lived in Villafrati the marriage record should also be found in the Villafrati civil registration which you can find here:

The documents are not sorted and it may take some time but you should find what you're looking for there

Do you know when Lorenzo and Rosalia passed away?

Did Rosalia have a brother Anthony Calato, who died in Buffalo on 11/16/1954?

Did some searching on the Fulton History site, since you said they lived in NY state.
