Thank you, mler. FWIW, I will have the supporting census documents (working on tracking them down now) stating that he was still an alien when my GGF was born. I plan to go through the embassy in DC, does anyone know how strict they are with documents?

So I got my GGGF's certificate of nonexistence back today, as well as his and his wife's birth and marriage certificates (I guess it was a lucky day). Unfortunately, I searched the index for his name and the birth year 1881, when he was in fact born in August of 1880. The information I found on ...
