What record source are you referring to? That will help tremendously with the answer.

Re: Are there more riveli records hiding on the Italian State Archive website?

Is there a way to tell which towns have Riveli documents available online at Antenati?

I don't see any Riveli documents available online at familysearch.org.

This is what I'm hoping to find out. It seems like they share the same ones, possibly. It really is an inconvenience that the documents ...

Re: Y Haplogroup

So I don't have an Italian surname, but I had my cousin, a Pacia, with ancestors from Moschiano, Avellino verified back to 1756. His y-haplogroup is J-M267 and he only has one match, also a Pacia, with Pacia ancestors from Moschiano, though I can't find the connection with available records.

Are there more riveli records hiding on the Italian State Archive website?

I noticed that the State Archives have some Riveli records online, in a very confusing format. These are the same ones scanned by FamilySearch.

Here is the example of what has been included:

I'd also love to know where I can find Piano di Sorrento Lista di Leva. I'd assume that they aren't online yet, I believe that the state archives may or may not have them.

Is it worth it to index civil records that will eventually be transcribed by FamilySearch?

I know it will be worth it in the short-run to me, since I already spend enough time in the records in the towns I'm transcribing, and have plans on a large project to connect everyone through blood or marriage, but as far as in the grand scheme of things, will my efforts eventually be useless since ...

Re: What is the purpose of a "Notamento di Nascita" record?

The civil official was notifying the parish priest about the child's birth and then the priest, in turn, added to the document, the information about administering the Sacrament of Baptism to the child. The copy was then returned to the civil office to include in its registers.

There was ...

What is the purpose of a "Notamento di Nascita" record?

Hey everyone,

In the Allegati section for Ventimiglia di Sicilia, I see records for "Notamento di Nascita" which seem to have all (or nearly all) of the birth records for a particular year, stripped of most info except child's name and parents' names. They have been useful as the regular birth ...

Right, but I feel like it was misleading for them to ask for the donations with the seeming contingency that the registers to be published, without actually having the authorization to put them online.

I read that they were able to save the registers, yet they still have yet to publish them online. What gives?

While this isn't of much help, I'm surprised that the January 7, 1913 Hartford marriage listing doesn't give her maiden name.

Re: Looking for birth record of Antonino/Antonio Amadeo from "Palermo"...can't find anything at all

Go to www.paginebianche.it. Enter the surname variations one at a time. Amadeo/Amodeo/Amadio/Amodio and print out the results.
Then enter Buttafuoco (its the closest to the mother's surname).
Compare the lists and see if both names are common in one or more town.
Concentrate on the towns on the ...
