Thanks for your reply. I just got back and I didn’t have my mom’s birth certificate translated and i didn’t have any problems.

As for the notary the person who notarized stamped the notary “oath” plus her notary stamp and signed.

Thanks for your reply. I went today to the Chicago consulate and you were correct. They looked at the original and kept the copy I brought.
