Re: Relationship Question
Good question. definitely half sisters...Maybe half cousins??? Is there such a thing? :? Well, we know that 1/2 sisters are not as closely related as sisters. So, I guess that 1/2 cousins would be farther apart than cousins. In this case they should be closer together than cousins, not farther apar...

Re: Relationship Question
Interesting question. I actually have the situation you described in a family. I use family tree maker. When using the relationship calculator it only says the two children are half sisters. But, if the wives were sisters the children would also be cousins. Correct? Debbie Hmmmm... In my case it ha...

Relationship Question
If a man has children with two different wives, the children are !/2 brothers and sisters.
What if the two wives are sisters? The children would be closer than 1/2 - what is the term used for this?
Thanks

Re: I've now waited a year for my dual citizenship...
You don't say which consulate you are working with. Some have become very backlogged with applications (one consulate apparantly has 80,000), with waiting times at a minimum of 2 years. Another part of the delay is processing in Italy. Some comunes have been overwhelmed with the paperwork, and they ...

Re: First name - Londo?
If your Great-Grandmother's brother was living in the U.S., it could be a nickname for Orlando.
However, if he was living in Italy, I have no idea if this would be a possible nickname.

Re: me-mother-grandmother-great-grandfather
This is how I understand it: Italian law originally did not permit citizenship to pass through the mother. This law was changed in 1948. If your mother was an Italian citizen at the time you were born, and you were born after 1948, then citizenship was passed to you. Otherwise, she did not pass Ital...

I have tried many systems. The two that have been the most valuable are Pimsleur and Rosetta Stone.

Hi,
While citizenship is a related topic, this site is primarily devoted to genealogy. You will find more people working with citizenship issues at ExPatsInItaly, including several people from the Chicago area.

Re: Applying for Italian Citizenship at NY Consulate
An apostille is not needed for any Italian documents.
Several people at this site http://www.expatsinitaly.com/ are currently working with the NY consulate. There ave been considerable discussions, some of which might be helpful to you.

Re: Italian Symbol for a tattoo or pics of italian heritage
I was thinking not of your family name, but rather the family nickname. It's like an individual nickname, except it can be used over several generations of descendents. It's often recorded in the church records of weddings, etc.Troubled wrote:My familys name would be DeSantis

Q 1) You need to make another request, this time for a 'certified' copy, with a seal. Make the request - Your wearyness hasn't started yet: The delay of 2 to 3 months - not too bad. Many consulates are way backlogged processing dual citizenship requests. For example, the S.F. consulate has a 5 month...
