Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Hi

Looks like last permanent residence was Teramo and nearest friend or relative in Italy was Antonio Teramo. Also note naturalization info noted on the line.

Note that this is a two page manifest. Next page states she is going to her husband Ferdinando Di Marsio (clearer on first page) and the two children listed after are traveling with her. daugher Carolina and son Giuseppe

Thanks.
I assume that the Teramo after is name is for the address and not his last name. His last name would be DiMarzio, which is Fernandino's last name. If I understand the manifest correctly, Berenice visited her father-in-law in Teramo during this visit home.

Also, do you have any idea want the following additional information added above her name might be? Oct 25,1941 ???? #3-224725 ?C file 236660.

Please look at this passenger list for Ferdinando DiMarzio and Berenice. Can you tell me the name of the "uncle" in Philadelphia?

suanj: How can you tell the difference between "father" and "brother"?

What I meant was how can you tell the handwriting difference between a "b" and an "f" on the passenger list. To my untrained eye, it looks like she visited her "father-in-law" and not her "brother-in-law".

This does not look like the same line I am looking at: Line 17
http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/view. ... rc=&zp=100

The example you sent me does look like brother, but the line I am looking at looks like father.

Sorry for being so difficult. I am just sooooooooo confused! 8O
