Cassella - Help needed reading passenger record

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

The image posted by VaDeb is the image that I have been commenting on.

I am jumping ship from the majority and going with "father-in-law".

Thanks for all your help.

Next challenge is to find Celestino Rospi in Philadelphia. 9th and Christian Sts, Phila. (Heart of Little Italy).

Suanj

Thanks for looking again. Thought we were looking at two different manifests. It makes me uncomfortable when I do not agree with you - You are usually right.

Regarding: Vincenzo Cassello Number 36. Detention Record. Can anyone tell me what was the cause of detention and the disposition?

Hi TY

Not alot of info.
In Group A6 (I don't think you can do anything with this)
Cause of detention - to bro in law
Disposition: Brother-in-law (Mannula D'Agusto) ? spelling
14 Franklin, New York City
Discharged July 19 3:26
Meals - Dinner 1

Many are women that were released to the custody of a male relative. Perhaps on his manifest there will be a note. If he did not have any $ he may have been held until family arrived to be responsible. Sometimes you will see LPC for likely public charge.

Thank you for the translation. Do you think that he would be listed elsewhere in this ship's manifest?

Yes, you'll find him on the arrival manifest on Ancestry.com under Vincento Casello

I found him. Unfortunately he is too young to be the Vincenzo Cassello that I am searching for.

Thank you for your assistance.
