How can I get the information of which Italians arrived in Puerto Rico? Would you be able to direct me? Is there a specific site where I can search? You and Peter have been quite helpful. Right now, I am currently trying to obtain my great grandfather's death certificate. Another obstacle since there was little information.

Hi, I've found this new, perhaps can interest you: from 1884 to 1901, only 380 Italians were emigrated to Cuba, nearly all of italy north origin and for the majority of male sex (312 men, 68 women), only 40 arrived directly from Italy, the others came from USA(185), from Mexico (48), from South America(34), from Spain (29), the other Antilless (21) etc....regards, suanj

Could be since the Panama Canal was not open but many people used to go by road from the Atlantic to the Pacific where the Panam Canal was evetually built so the best thing is to check the ww.ellisisland.org website and check . But there are many ports he could have come into on the Atlatic side like Boston or New orleans or even Mexico for that matter. He could also have come in via the suez canal to the pacific and Hawaii. Peter

Hi: I've found an other new. Italian emigrated in Cuba, was vulunteers
soldiers they had already fought in Spain and Greece... they left for the
USA and then they went to Cuba beetwen 1898/1901..I have found some names:
Francesco Federico Falco, Alfonso Cancellieri, Oreste Ferrara, Francesco
Lenci, Guglielmo Patriccione, Francesco Pagliuchi and Ugo Ricci, that it
fights to Matanzas and are an official of Maceo ; and others name not
specify.

Hi Don not are others info in Italy...I think probable italian surname your ancestor are ValentinO or ValentinI...you have possibility(for better search)to search in Cuba more info..? are necessary birtdate(from cemetery; in marriage act, probable are also italian origin place, exact surname, exact first name..Avelino is tipical of Spain)..regards, suanj
