Longobucco church

Post by Georginar »

Hi!
I need some help since I dont understand Italian, I need to find the birth certificate for Francisco Lavia, who was born in 1896 in Longobucco, Calabria.

I get confused, is Calabria the comune for Longobucco? or is it Longobucco a comune itself?

And since he was born in 1896, does that mean that the certificate might not be in the church anymore?

He came to Argentina after he was born, I think he was like 4 or 6 years old.
This info is for a fried of mine that is going to start her Italian Citizenship.

Thanks

Georgina

Longobucco is a town in the Province of Cosenza which is in the Region of Calabria.

The birth record would be at the Ufficio di Stato Civile (town/city hall).

This link will guide you through the process of writing to the town to acquire the birth record. It contains form letters in Italian and instructions on how to send away for the document.

Longobucco is the comune. To request the birth record (Atto di Nascita) you should write in Italian to:

Ufficio di Stato Civile
Via Mazzini, 70
87066 Longobucco (CS)
Italy

Be sure to use this format for your address.
