Hi everyone,
This is my first post and i'm hoping that someone can help me. I'm trying to do a family tree and i can go as far back as my gr. grandparents who were born in 1890's. Now, i've already had some friends look up info on ancestry.com and was very helpful......i was able to find my gr. grandfather's naturalization card, the ship he came over on (to Montreal), when, and all that. Now, i was able to find out that my gr. grandmother was from Vieste, Italy and my gr. grandfather was from Peschici, Italy. My gr. granfather's parents names were Biscotti and Caruso (obviously). My gr. grandmother's maiden name was Tatalo and her mother's name was Tomaiolo. Is there any way for me to go further down the line with birth certificates, etc.? My gr. grandfather and mother came over ~1913, but, both were born in Italy. I'm trying to extend the family tree a little further if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Welcome to the forum!
There are two directions you can take. You can write to the comune (town) of birth and request your GGF/GGM's birth records (atto di nascita). The request should be in Italian, but this link will help you to understand the process and will provide you with form letters in Italian to make your request.

OR - You can visit your nearest Mormon Family History Center. Go to www.familysearch.org and scroll down to enter your zip code to find the nearest center. The LDS has microfilms of civil records you can rent to do your own searching.
They have Vieste records from 1809-1899 (Nati-birth, morti-death, and matrimoni-marriage)

and for Peschici from 1809-1929

Good luck.
