Hi everyone! I am trying to find information on my great, great grandparents who came to the US from Italy in 1881. I have been told that they may have lived in Bari (this could be incorrect). I really need some help please.
My great great grandfather is Felice Bombacie (I am told that the spelling could be different such as: Bombace, Bombaci, Bombacci, Bombasi). He was born about 1841 and he was married to Mary Polio (who also came over to the US in 1881. Mary was born about 1862.
They lived on Spring St in Manhattan, New York City, New York in 1910.
5 of 7 children were alive and lived with them:
Mary
Frederick
Currie
Millie
Philamena
I also know that Felice's parents names were: Ferdinando Bombacie and Maria Santora.
That is all that I know. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I am a member of Ancestry.com but my search there has not turned up enough information.
Thank you for your help!

Re: Looking for ancestors - Bombacie family or Bombaci or Bo
You are absolutely wonderful!!!
How did you ever get the information so fast? The only record that I was able to find was an online 1910 census form from Ancestry.com. I don't find it that easy of a site to work with if you do not have the exact spelling of a name. I did not know that they were married in the US - one of my relatives just assumed that they were married in Italy. As I am sure you can tell, I need lots of help.
Thank you very much!
Take care,
Nancy

1920 Census for Mary Bombace, 57, widowed; and daughter Philomena, 16. Looks like they are living on Perry St. in NYC.

Re: Looking for ancestors - Bombacie family or Bombaci or Bo
Hi everyone!
Many many thanks for your help!!
Please see the earlier threads for this posting. Can someone please help me find out when my great great grandparents (Felice Bombacio and Maria Sopio Pollio) arrived in the US? I believe it was 1881 or so. They were married in NY so I know that it was before that. I do not know how many siblings either of them had, if they came over alone or if they came with family.
Thank you!

Thank you everyone!! Suanj, Tessa78, Valarie -you are all so helpful!
I did order the death certificates and marriage certificates as you all suggested - I am just impatient - NYC site says 4-6 weeks for the certificates to reach me.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Nancy
