hi, first post on these forums!
My mother Teresa Meffe of Torella del Sannio, b. 1936, had three children in the 1960s by Luigi Massa, Campobasso b 1939. Two of us, myself and a younger sister Moira, were given up for adoption in England, my other sister Gina was brought up in a convent in Italy until she was five, when our mother came to take her back to England.
Gina and I have only known of each others existence in the last 12 months and the truth is slowly coming out now. Our mother told us recently who our father is and we are now trying to locate him, as well as our missing sister Moira. All she has told us so far is his name, year and place of birth and that he's still alive and living in Italy.
Any information or help will be greatly appreciated as my sister and I speak terrible Italian and our mother isn't being much help, it's like getting blood from a stone.
Any information or help regarding the Meffe family from Torella would also be appreciated as she is cagey about that to, our aunt and cousins live in Rome and that's about all we know.
Thanks in advance,
Peter & Gina Meffe

Hi Peter,
If you phone the Italian Consulate in London 02078386984, they have a department that helps familys in your situation, they will also point you in the right direction.
There is also an organization called CFAB (they used to be called International social services) 0207 735 8971.
http://www.cfab.uk.net/
Another thing, as you where adopted, the local social services should have a case file on you, if you write to the head of social services of the area you where and ask for a copy, there should be some details about your father and sisters in there.
Hope this helps ..and good luck, Vee

thanks for the advice re Italian Embassy. I was thinking about getting in touch with the regional consulate earlier today, just before you posted but you've saved me a lot of ringing round, thanks.
I've already put in a request to our local social services and they#re waiting for the files from the Catholic Children's Society, which is taking ages (already been nearly a year)
