Campanarello, Avellino OR simply Avellino.. I do know that local designations have changed since his birth in May 1850.

He indicated on the 1900 Census that he arrived in 1883.
You stated that he was from Avellino
His birth date is May 1850 by 1900 Census.

This arrival is May 3, 1883 to NY
Passenger 305 is "C. Antonio Purrazzo (sp?)"
He is from Avellino
Age is stated as 33 which would put date of birth about 1850 (pretty close :-) )

From what source did you obtain this DeMarinis manifest? It was great for me to see it! I believe it is correct one.

Luisa's father: Carmine Antonio (or Carminantonio) Porrazzo, 1850-1924, born in Campanarello, Avellino.

Here is a list of comuni (towns) in Avellino Province... as you can see there is none with the name CAMPARANELLA :(
http://italia.indettaglio.it/eng/regioni/campania.html

And here are all the small villages in Italy that begin with CAM... as you can see there is none with the name Camparanella...
http://www.italyworldclub.com/8000_ital ... ni_cam.htm

Where did find this town as the birth place of Carmine Antonio?

T.
Got confirmation of birth place from National Archives and Records Admiistration, Passport applications, 1795-1925. [As copied from website visual, but couldn't reproduce for you here...]: Record for Carmine Antonio Porrazzo, for January 2, 1906-March 31,1925, 1920 > Roll 1151 - Certificates: 13126-13499, 12 Apr 1920-12 Apr 1920 > (image 437).

Note: Campanarella, not Camparenella.

My mother always told me that he was from Rome...obviously not born there. Maybe he had lived there as as adult...who knows?

I am still searching for additional information for these ancestors: DeMarinis,Porrazzo, Addonizio. Can you provide further assistance, as I did not receive a reply to last communication; I did supply additional information on that post dated: Sept. 30, 2011, at 3:29. Plus I still need more on Giuseppe Lamantia and Antonia LoBocchiaro. whatever I have about them has been posted before.

This manifest is for C. Antonio Purazzo, not DeMarinis :-)
I found it at Ancestry.com

I have been searching for information about Lamantia and Addonizio, but have not been successful as yet! DeMarinis as well. Will keep looking...

Some information about your family names...

The name LoBocchiaro and LaBocchiaro do not exist in Sicily today... HOWEVER
The name Bocchiaro (without the La/Lo) does exist - and it is found in Misilmeri :-)

The name Lamantia is found throughout Sicily, but not in Misilmeri today. HOWEVER it is found today in the towns adjacent to Misilmeri :-)

You say that Antonina (Anna) LoBocchiaro Lamantia died in USA. Do you have her arrival manifest?

We can't look for ITALIAN records until we know the EXACT town of birth for each of your ancestors. :)
Not all civil records are available online.
If you think Misilmeri is a good bet... you can either write to the comune directly to request Anna LoBocchiaro's and Giuseppe Lamantia's birth and marriage records...

Address:
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Piazza Comitato 1860, 26
90036 Misilmeri (PA)

Re "Bocchiaro"...yes, I have a Misilmeri birth database obtained from "sicilianFamilytree.com", but cannot tell for certain which, if any, are the right ones. Projected birth date for Antonina gained from the 1900, 1910, and 1920 US census's, indicate birth at or around 1873. Dates on this particular record do not jive, and perhaps it doesn't cover later years. Also, I do see not only Bocchiaro, but also, Lo[space in between]Bocchiaro.

I have this Manifest for the Bolivia, sailing from Palermo, April 23, 1898, partially shown here:

Name Gender Age Married Ethnicity Place of Residence

0001. La Mantia, Giuseppe
M 31y M Italy Misilmeri

0002. Lo Bocchiaro, Antonina
F 25y M Italy Misilmeri

0003. La Mantia, Angela [Incorrect: this is NOT Angela, but Angelo!]F[/b][/b] He died shortly thereafter in the U.S.

11m S Italy Misilmeri

0004. Guccione, Filippa [A clue? I don't know who this is. They were going to another Guccione in NYC.]M 12y S Italy Misilmeri

0005. Lo Bocchiaro, Guiseppa [a sister of Antonina? Again, I don't know.]
F 19y S Italy Misilmeri

Hope this helps. Theograd :)

0004. Guccione, Filippa [A clue? I don't know who this is. They were going to another Guccione in NYC.]M 12y S Italy Misilmeri
Giuseppe and family were going to Ciro Guccione @ 267 Elizabeth St. NYC -
BUT... Filippa was going "to parents Ciro Coculo" - Ring a bell?
0005. Lo Bocchiaro, Guiseppa [a sister of Antonina? Again, I don't know.]
F 19y S Italy Misilmeri
Notation for Giuseppa Lo Bocchiaro says "sister of No. 2" - so, yes, this would be a sister.

ALSO - there is a Francesco Lamantia, 48, shoemaker from Misilmeri (line 16) going to the same ADDRESS on Elizabeth St., but to a "Francesco LaSusa". Traveling with him is Giuseppe Susa, age 7, from Misilmeri.

They are definitely all listed from Misilmeri as last residence.

Perhaps a search of Giuseppa Lo Bocchiaro (marriage, death records) could provide more verification of place of BIRTH.

In NYC marriage index...
Could be Antonina's sister? Slight variation of the spelling of surname.

Lobocchiero Guiseppa May 15 1899 8477 Manhattan
Faranda Nicolo May 16 1899 Manhattan 8477
