the term 'maggiore'

Post by dmt1955 »

i have read on a few records in these posts the word 'maggiore' after a person's name....does this mean that it is the older of the individuals with that name to whom the act is referring?

thanks

it means the individual was of adult age-or of legal age to marry. The legal age was 21 and didn't change to 18 until the 1970s.
