Piccolo and Filipin families Treviso

I am trying to find information about my great grandparents' families. My great grandfather was Settimo Piccolo born in Corchetta, Treviso Nov 3, 1885. He married Guiditta Corona Filipin born in Cornuda, Treviso Jan 2, 1877. They emmigrated to Canada via the USA in 1908. Settimo's father was Antonio Piccolo and I believe Settimo had a brother Frank (Francis or Francesco).
Settimo and Guiditta settled in British Columbia Canada and had 5 children, Maria, Antonio, Steve, Timothy and Dora (died at birth). Maria is the only one still living but is elderly and not able to recall any information. She had no children.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. I know my Nono had been back to Italy many times when I was a child but we have lost all contact with family after my grandfather died 16 years ago.

The British Columbia Archives (in my opinion) are the best in Canada.
Have you researched from the http://www.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/index.htm

My Greatgrandfathers all worked there during the 1900's making $2.50 a day at the mines. They (most) went through Boston Harbor and Ellis Island.... and then took the train... from where??? I don't know...

Also, a few paesanos ended up in the Spokane, Washington area....

Yes those are my great grandparents. Thanks for your response.I have found the site you suggested to be very helpful. I grew up in the Trail-Rossland area and most of my family still lives there. I am interested in finding out more about Settimo and Guiditta's parents and siblings in Italy.

Do you still have family in the Trail-Rossland area?

And the willows are in bloom. It has been a very mild winter and spring is coming fast.

Yes! And some paesanos in Alberta....

I also keep in touch with the person who helps out at the church. She and another person sent me photographs of my Great Grandfathers grave... who perished in 1911 at the Centre Star Mines in Rossland...

Imagine... 4 generations later... we finally had some connection to our Great Grandfather... receiving emailed photos was quite the emotional experience ever... I had my own sons with me as we looked at all the photographs for the first time...

The sacrifices they made...

I have found my great grandparents passenger records on the Ellis Island search as they traveled through New York to Canada. They came over on a boat called Campania in 1908. I have no idea as to how they came to BC but it indicates on the ship Manifest that their destination was Fifield Wisconsin. I haven't been able to find any connections in that area.

According to the census, Frank Piccolo came over in 1908 as well...

Looks like there is an Arthur Piccolo there too... immigrated in 1913

Maybe a manifest could be found for Francesco...?

Hi: Settimio PICCOLO, son of Antonio, was born in CROCETTA Trevigiana(Treviso province), and with Giuditta Corona wife, in 1908 came in USA, joining from brother (or brothers): Marco Ferruccio Emilio (or Marco, Ferruccio, Emilio). Currently(from 1928) the town are called CROCETTA
DEL MONTELLO (TREVISO province), all records about Settimio are in this common..

Hi,

I imagine you already know this, but there are two different lines of Piccolo's in Kamloops. One of them is from Maser, Treviso, which is very near Crochetta. The others are your relatives I believe.

I spoke with my mom, and she said the following:

A Steve Piccolo died last year here in Kamloops. He had a farm. His daughter still lives in the area. Timothy Piccolo passed away a few years ago, his wife is still in Kamloops.

Antonio was in Trail and he passed away some time ago.

Steve and Timothy were my granfather's (Antonio) brothers. I have been in contact with some of my mom's cousins but they don't know any more than I do at this point. The rest of my relatives are still in the Trail area.

I have found out that my GGfather also had two sisters. One was named Emma and I havent yet found the name of the other sister.
