Delia Diomira Pinto - birth location?

Hello all,

I am looking for some information on my 2nd great-grandmother, Delia Diomira Pinto. She was born around 1862/63 and married my 2nd GGF, Pasquale Sansone, around 1886. They lived in Guardia Sanframondi, where he was born. They sailed to New York from Naples on December 15, 1919 and arrived in New York on January 3rd, 1920. This ship manifest lists her place of birth as Guardia Sanframondi, but I suspect this isn't the case; I think she got grouped with her husband and her two sons who sailed with her. The family settled in Bridgeport, CT.

The issue is that the surname Pinto is virtually unheard of in Guardia Sanframondi. I cannot find a single Pinto from Guardia Sanframondi on any genealogical database I search, and no Pintos currently in Guardia Sanframondi on paginebianche.it. I suspect Guardia isn't exactly the easiest place to get records from (I'm currently working on getting Pasquale's birth record), so I have not tried that yet with Delia. I have also searched for Pinte (not a surname), Pinti, Pinta, and Lo Pinto (surnames, but not in that area).

The other issue is that I'm not 100% sure of her name. On the ship manifest she was Diomira Pinto, on the 1930 census she was Delia, and she seemed to alternate between Delia and Diomira (or Diomera) on the Bridgeport City Directory. Based on the number of Delias in the family, I'm assuming Delia is the first name.

Any thoughts on how to proceed?

In Benevento Archive, are some indicized civil records of Guardia Sanframondi... just some year...
I found just:
-PINTO Maria Irene born in GUARDIA SANFRAMONDI on 21 feb 1860 daughter of Michele PINTO and Rosaria SANZARI
-PINTO Filomena born in GUARDIA SANFRAMONDI on 29 jun 1859 daughter of Raffaele PINTO and Lodovica ABATE
-PINTO Sebastiano Valentino born in GUARDIA SANFRAMONDI on 12 oct 1858 son of Michele PINTO and Rosaria FOSCHINI

Thank you! This is very helpful information. Do you happen to know if the Archivo di Stato in Benevento holds the records for Guardia Sanframondi past 1860? I wrote to them to ask, but I have not yet received a response. Should I be writing to the Ufficio Dello Stato Civile in Guardia Sanframondi instead?

Hi,
if you need of birth certificate helpful for dual citizenship, in this case you can write in Guardia Sanframondi civil records office...
Benevento archive no replied because they have civil records from 1809 to 1860...(and in effects in Benevento archive website are indicized just births from 1859 to 1860)
