I read the common name Aiello, not "Asello."

I did debate between Asello and Aiello, and yes, like you say, Aiello is a common name in Sicily, (and Asello doesn't seem to be there). To me, the second letter looks like an "s" and if you look at Francesco the "s" there is the same, as it is in other words with the letter "s" . I don't see the letter "i" looking like this anywhere in the record. Maybe a third party can confirm. I'm always open to correction, thank you.

There appears to be a dot over the second letter. I agree that the other i's in this record don't appear to extend below the line, but it is a common way of writing the letter i. If I didn't know anything about the relative frequency of Aiello and Asello I would agree with you. As it is I'm not sure, but I lean toward Aiello. Other records for this couple would help a lot.

working on it, Thanks for the help I first thought aiello also, but just was not sure , I do try to compare letters t others in the writing, I will find more of them I am sure. First pass through the records was for what and who I knew of now I have a ton more names and round two is coming LOL, I am also finding a bunch that went to the US and went back and forth, making it hard to know where they were sometimes.
