Until the beginning of the XX century when the letter"i" occurred between two vowels it was usually written like " j " but pronounced as "i". For example the word "paio" (pair) was written pajo, gioia (happiness) was written as gioja and so on.
So Pulejo and Puleio are exactly the same surname
