Here's the birth record for Accursia Gallo, from 1873:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... ,349579901

She was born 27 Oct 1873.

I checked the birth index for 1865 but didn't see Ignazio La Bella. Unfortunately, it seems that there is no index for 1864 births, unless it is buried in the middle of the records, and going through over 600 records one-by-one is too tedious for me.

Thank you SOOO much for all of this great info! My friend is going to be so excited to see all of this. I guess the remaining question mark is Ignazio LaBella's birth record. Do you know of any faster way to search other than going through each of the 600 records? I realize that without the index that's probably the only way, right?

Unless you find some other record with a DOB on it. If the marriage record was from later in the year that would make it more probable that he was born in late 1864 rather than early 1864, so start from the back. If there were siblings born in adjacent years that could also narrow the range, but I'm not aware of any.

The letter L in the 1865 birth index is on slides 2286 and 2287.

Wow! A huge GRAZIE to both of you for your help! So, now with these docs, I should be able to get a response from the comune di sciacca (let's hope!).

Thanks again!!!

Thanks, Tessa. It was in January! I hoped you didn't have to go through almost the entire year.

The index was just before 1 Nov. That's why I didn't find it when I started backward from the beginning of 1865. I gave up looking for it after searching the last couple of weeks of December.

Thanks a lot for the link to the index, Tessa. I keep a record of where all the indexes I find are located on the films, at least for the towns in Agrigento.
