Petra Finocchio, age 81, daughter of deceased Martino (Finocchio) and Giuseppa Merendino; widow of Vincenzo Baglio, Liborio Cannella, and Luigi Lilla (sp?), died yesterday (so on the 15th) at 11:30 P.M. and was buried in the convent of S. Magdalena.

Wow. Thanks so much. Is that normal for someone to have been buried in a convent?

I just enlarged the record, and now the word I thought was convent is actually the word for cemetery in Latin, which is why it starts coe instead ce, as in Italian. She was buried in the Saint Mary Magdalena Cemetery.

Just a sidenote: sometimes elderly widowed women did go to live in convents.
