Re: 1810 birth Vincenzo Scivetti-Mother's name
The following 1823 record is possibly the same couple. Here her name is Marta:

There are a few possibilities of what the full name might be but without the double t.
(I think that it is suppose to read Martira here but it looks like Marttira.)

I'm sure the 1823 couple are the same people. Michele's profession and their address certainly tally. Michele's age is about by 2-3 years out but that often happens anyway. Happy to help.

Mmogno: Is there a reason why you believe the Christian name to be Martina?mmogno wrote:MartinaHaztek wrote:Looking for the 1st name of the mother (?) di Gaetano

Martina was definitely the first option when I first looked at the record but I wasn't convinced that the second to last letter was an "n". It is most unlike the others.

I think the first letter r is written over the first t and that the name is Martira. What comes before that character is part of the letter a. There is no double t.

Oh yes, I can see now that there is no double t. Definitely Martira as I had written earlier in the post. The reason I was quizzing mmogno was because I had wondered whether it was usual in Italia to shorten the name Martina to Marta.
