#1 (Part 2, Series C)
Dated 26 March 1916 in Rapone
The official received from Francesco Maria Pinto [son of deceased Angelo], farmer of this town, a copy of the act of death of Angelomaria Pinto, his son, in the City of New York (United States of Ameria) and has asked that it be read and entered into the civil register of death in Rapone. The official has entered the copy exactly as transcribed into Italian from the English as notarized by Francesco Ianolini(?) of New York -
New York - 15 February 1905, #25927
Certificate of death of Angelo Maria Pinto
Male, white, died in the hospital situated at #7 West 15th Street
Age 30 - Place of birth Italian - married - occupation of porter
Name of father - Francesco Maria Pinto - born in Italy
Name of mother - Maria Giuseppa Grieco - born in Italy
The certificate appears to give the cause of death as Spinal Meningitis.
Death date appears to be 21 July 1904.
Burial on 23 July 1904 - Funeral Directore "G. Ferrie Co. 399 East 11th Street"

FYI - This is the listing in the NYC Death Index for Angelo Pinto .
You can request a copy (for a fee) from NYC Vital records.

Thank you So much Tessa.
Just curious--did it really take a year to get the death date certified (date of Death 21 july 1904), recorded in NYC on15 Feb. 1905? And, Did it really take 11 years to get word to his family? Date recorded in Rapone is 1916.

Well, the last third of the record deals with all the officials and notaries that the record had to pass through, so the process was lengthy. The biggest gap in time was from 15 April 1905 (Italian Consulate in New York) and 21 March 1916 (Minister of Foreign Affairs in Rome)... This was to certify the record.

However, I do not believe it took that long to notify the parents/family.

I guess they did not have cell phones, email or Facebook to spread news like they do today. I am sure it did not take that long to notify family, but just seemed like a lot of time passed.
Thank you Tessa, I appreciate your help.
