San Francisco Consulate Expedited Appointment

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

San Francisco Consulate Expedited Appointment

Post by samwelch »

Relating to San Francisco Italian Consulate only:

Is it possible to pay more money and get a faster appointment? To get a 'rush' appointment or a 'priority' appointment?

Also has anyone had any luck getting earlier appointments due to watching the website for cancellations?

I have just got an appointment for two years from now, and my partner is moving to Italy soon (with EU citizenship already). I can't wait here for two years to follow.

I doubt you will be able to jump the line. If there were an expedited path, I'm betting many people would take it.

If you are eligible for a permesso di soggiorno, you can apply for a permesso di soggiorno per attesa cittadinanza and apply in Italy. But you must have another permesso first.

The consulate website should list them. Or do a google search on residency permits Italy.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for how to get a citizenship appointment at the SF consulate? I sent an email to the citizenship desk there and got a reply saying I should try Prenota every day at 15:00 local time. I have been trying for almost two months now. No luck!

Is it my browser (Chrome)? My OS (Mac)? To catch the cancellations, are you really clicking 24 times on that left arrow (so... slow...), back to the current month? Heck, I'm coming from Oregon and can't do a last minute cancellation anyway. I'll take two years out. I don't care!

Every other aspect of the process is coming together nicely (more or less), and this is really frustrating!

Thank you in advance for any tips.

Hi -
I am wondering if you were ever able to get your Prenota appointment and if you have any advice for me. I am also trying to go through the SF Consulate and have been trying for a month. I too have a Mac and use Google Chrome. The appointment website is very slow in responding. Any advice that you have for me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi, Mary Jo,

Yes, I finally got my appointment and I got my letters of recognition last September!

It's SO tricky to get appointments in San Francisco. The best time to sign in is at 3:00 p.m. San Francisco time, which is midnight in Rome. That's when the calendar is updated and new appointments are made available.

If you are on Facebook, there's a group called "Dual U.S.-Italian Citizenship". In addition to tips and tricks to scoring elusive appointments, they have organized posts wherein members can offer and trade consulate appointments, organized by city. It's very handy.

I hope this info helps. Good luck!
