I have begun researching the Italian documents for my ancestors and found my g-grandparent's marriage record (1884).
I can't figure out what is written in the father's information section and found it odd that my ggrandfather Lino Seminara had the same surname as his mother Rosa Seminara - any assistance you can supply would be most appreciated!
Thank you
Denise

"figlio di ignoto padre" = father unknown
Mother Rosa Seminara. So he went by his mother's maiden surname

Thank you so much Paola -
I appreciate the assistance - sad that this is the response and that trail grows cold.
The family rumor was always that he was an orphan partly true I guess.
Thanks again

In case you do not have this...
This is the link to the Allegati (attachments to the marriage) records for Lino Seminara and Rosa Ferrara.
This includes the certificate of publication of marriage banns, and the birth extracts for both Rosa and Lino.
Lino's birth act can be found in the 1858 Atti Diversi of the Municipality of Alimena, #12.
Lino was born on 23 September 1858 at 1 PM to Rosa Seminara [daughter of deceased Antonio].

Re: Translation for father's info?
AND once again this site just AMAZES me - THANK YOU TESSA!!!
I haven't dug deeper than the simple Bith/Dreath/Marriage records as the Allegati's have all been long-hand italian and those are WAY TOO much for me just yet.
So how did you find his information so easily - I have literally been going through the indexes of the books - sometimes year by year.....simply amazing what you found!
Thank you;
Denise

Re: Translation for father's info?
Allegati for marriages are not always available, and usually do not have an index.
Generally, but not always, they are in a somewhat chronological order and often have the same record # as the marriage. In this case, #40.

And the marriages needed those extra documents so are always in the Allegati? - That's awesome! I have a few more marriage records that I will try that trick on - Thanks again Tessa!
