Help understanding Archivio di Stato records
Help understanding Archivio di Stato records
I am currently reviewing the birth records in Archivio di Stato di Potenza Stato civile della restaurazione Chiarmonte in the 1830-1854 period. The form is not the same as used in later records of which I have an English translation which is of great help. Does anyone know of a translation of the form such as the one attached which I think is an ancestor (Number 9) Maria Emmanuela Allegretti? If someone could translate the birth record that would also be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Karen

Re: Help understanding Archivio di Stato records
Hi Tessa,
I still have not located the records for my husband's direct ancestor Catrina who was likely to be born in the 1867-1868 gap in the online records but I may have found some of her brothers which will help especially her mother who I have no idea when born.
Giuseppe Montesano no. 125
Domenico Montesano no. 95
Gio Montesano no. 61
Pietro Montesano no.46
The four children that appear to be born in Chiaromonte, Potenza, Italy of Maurizio Montesano and Emmanuela Allegretti. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you once again,
Karen

Wow Tessa, I can’t thank you enough! I have been looking all this time in the records in Chiaramonte for Catrina Montesano who was likely born before Maurizo married Maria Emmanuella. Next on to Montemurro!

Re: Help understanding Archivio di Stato records
Tessa,
Thank you again, you are amazing.
I think I found the index reference to Catrina's birth in 1861 but when I go to no. 112 I do not see any of the names I am looking for. I tried to understand the date of birth on the index but the month does not look like the any on the list of months translated from Italian to English that I have. What am I doing wrong?
