Pasquale Raffaele di Battista, bracciale-day laborer
son of Giovanni, same occupation
mother: Caterina Rosato, yes
occupation for the bride is not given. it says she was living ivi (there)
her father Giovanni-contadino peasant
Maria Rosa Puppo, living with the husband
Re: Help with marriage of Battista and Ricciarde
Thank you Erudita,
The way Ricciarde was written had me really concerned as the R looked to me more like a V but of all of the marriage acts I reviewed in the likely time period this one came closest to matching the other few facts I had.

The correct spelling of the surname is Ricciardi (ending in an i and not an e). It is found in Potenza Province. Sorry I missed that the other day. Also it is clear in the index at the end of the group of records. Sometimes the way the letter R is written looks like a V and vice versa, but it is definitely the letter R here.

Re: Help with marriage of Battista and Ricciarde
Thank you again Erudita,
I identified two other children that appear to be born of this couple. The youngest was born in 1946. The girls share their grandmother's names so I'll keep looking for other children between 1935 and 1946 keeping what you said in mind.
Interestingly the marriage was the first time I ran across di Battista rather than just Battista. I'll look for both in the indexes but wondered if it was common in Italy to drop the di part of a name.

I don't know how common it was for the "di" to be dropped from surnames, but I have found in the indices that sometimes surnames like this were alphabetized under "d" and sometimes under "b,." or the beginning letter of the main part of the surname, whatever that was. You should always check the indices both ways, even in a given year.
