Having trouble finding birth certificate

Post by Shanegillespie1 »

I'm trying to obtain my great grandmothers birth certificate. Her birth was recorded in the county of Bajo in Torino, Piemonte, Italy. I sent a request to "Comune di Borgofranco D'Ivrea". I received a response of no record, I assume I sent the request to the wrong comune for this area. I cannot find Bajo on any google searches, I assume this county no longer exists. I was going to send a request to "Citta di Ivrea" and "Comune di Ivrea" next to see if they can find the records. Does anyone have any knowledge of this area or the proper place to send the requests? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :D :D

The full name of the frazione (hamlet) is Baio Dora (the "j" you see is actually a "long i")
You have the correct comune... Borgofranco D'Ivrea in Torino Province.

I have the address as:
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Via Mombarone, 3
10013 Borgofranco d'Ivrea (TO)
ITALY

and the email for the comune as:
segretariocomunale@comune.borgofranco.to.it

Some information about Baio Dora

As marty :-) mentioned, we may be able to help if you provide us with details :-D

Thank you so much Tessa! I was curious why it said "Bajo", from my understanding there is no "J" In the Italian language. My great grandmothers name was "Anna Francesca Gauna" and she was born April 8th 1892. She married my great grandfather who's name is "Carlo Sitton". Carlo was born August 28th 1889 in Riese (TV).

How sure of her last name of Guana are you? Did she settle in the US?
Did not see Anna Francesca Gauna birthact in the town of Borgofranco D'Ivrea for that date you gave

I believe the surname may have been Gnorra originally, as it is found in Borgofranco d'Ivrea.
Gauna is found in Torino Province, but currently not found in Borgofranco d'Ivrea.

I have attached the documents that I used to obtain this information. I do have her death certificate and naturalization documents. She traveled to Canada and then to the United States where she stayed till she died. I contacted Borgofranco and I have included their response.
