Consulate Preference

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Consulate Preference

Post by Spumoni »

I live in South Carolina and therefore it appears my application for dual citizenship would need to go through the Miami consulate.

I have many connections to Philadelphia. My Italian grandfather through whom I hope to acquire Italian citizenship lived there all his life. I have family there. And so on.

So traveling to Philly would make so much more sense for me personally.

Is anyone aware of exceptions made regarding which consulate is used for the appointment and process?

Unfortunately, no. You need to provide proof of residence before a consulate will accept your application.

Would they accept cash bribes to ignore the proof of residence requirement?

You would think so, but I'm guessing, no. šŸ˜‰

Keep your sense of humor; it will serve you well in this process.
