Hello,
Is anyone familiar with the Piemontese dialect?. I am trying to remember how aunt is translated. I think it is Monia but I am not sure.
Thanks
Piemontese
Re: Piemontese
I think the word you are thinking of is "magna" (pronounced mahn ya)
Italian = zia

Thank-you Tessa, I did not know how it was spelled
Re: Piemontese
Thank you so much for posting this. I met my mom's Magna Ernesta several times when I was a very little girl, and I did not know how to spell Magna and was not certain that it meant Aunt as I never learned Piemontese from my mom, and my mother never learned Italian from her parents - she only spoke Piemontese. I was trying to verify that Ernesta was really my grandfather's sister in my geneaology and I am absolutely sure now.
I was wondering does any one know of a good Piemontese dictionary? I have a lot of voices in my head (haha) and I know many Piemontese songs by heart but don't entirely know what they mean! Thank you!
