Dosualdo (D'Osualdo?) and Stefani family

Post by dvasques »

Hi,

I am trying to track the origin of my great-grandmother's parents and, unfortunately, I haven't found anything whatsoever.
I have her birth certificate in Brazil:

Name: Nayr Dosualdo

Parents: Valentim Dosualdo and Maria Stefani (both born in Italy)

Grandparents (father's side): Domingos Dosualdo and Elisabetha Carmeluta
Grandparents (mother's side): Urdorico Stefani and Francisca Gonizi

I am aware that their original names are probably different, but I have written them as they appear in Nayr's birth certificate.

Any help?
Thanks!

Demi

Do you have a town or region in Italy where they may have come from?
Places: Jaci, Palazzolo Acreide, Pedara, Trecastagni
Names: Fisichella, Gangemi, Miano, Moscuzza, Smriglio, Torrisi, Valvo

The surname "Desualdo" is very rare: currently it exists only in the province of Udine, in Manzano, Corno di Rosazzo, Buttrio and Buja.

Hi brogie62, unfortunately no. Nothing in the documents, and the people in the family that I could reach know nothing about it. I'll keep trying to talk to others though.

Hi mmogno, thanks for the link. However, I had tried it before with no success. Nothing close to the information I have.

Sorry for not posting it. The only date I have is Nayr's dob: 16 October 1916.
And the family believes that Nayr's parents were married in Italy, but I am not sure. I don't know about the wedding date either.

Definitely, Maria and Valentin got married in Brazil. Here is the immigration record for Maria's family, they arrived when she was 10:

Can you post Nayr Dosualdo's baptismal certificate or a link?

By the way, if this can be of any help, Nayr was married to Carmo Gramulha, son of
Michele Gramuglia (Miguel Gramulha) (this thread: https://www.italiangenealogy.com/forum/ ... logy/41027)

hey so idk if your gonna read this seeing as its two year late but

we may be dissent relatives or something as my family is third generation immigrants from udine and also shares the same last name (its written and said as dosualdo but i think the correct way its D'Osualdo as it the italian-ised version of sir oswald tho i could be completely wrong about that)

my mother is very much into ancestory and has manged to find her side back to the 1600's (not the dosualdos) but has had bascially nothing past a few generations on my dads side (the dosualdos). This is probably due to the majority of documents being burned just after world war two (again this is just what ive been told so i still cant confirm it).

I could give you some of my great? grandparnets names if it will help tho im not sure it will

Hope you found something - F Dosualdo
