Nati proietti translation

Post by Chocopies »

Would someone help me translate the following document for my ancestor Vincenzo? I this is my first time trying one of these types, I understand that they sometimes include useful information about the child such as what they were found with (diapers, tokens, food), but I am having trouble finding anything like that here--and this is what I am really interested in.

I have translated this much information so far:

No. 9
April 17, 1848 at 1600 (stuff about official and place) appeared Litteria Buda, 45 years old "rotarian"? (person who operates the wheel/house with a wheel?) of this town on the previously mentioned day, a baby was put on the wheel at 0700...

then I get kind of lost. It looks like the same information is reapeated below all that and again in the margin. I understand that the child's name is Vincenzo Belfiore del Popolo, but I am not sure who gave him that name, whether anyone else was involved, objects, tokens etc.

Would someone kindly help me fill in the gaps? Thank you for looking!

You are correct with the information you have translated from the record.
Unfortunately, there is no other information regarding items found with the child (ribbons, diapers, clothing, etc.). The child was given his nome and cognome by the official as was the procedure. The right margin notes indicate the baptism.

Thank you Tessa! It is disappointing to find no items were listed, but now I know how he got his name and can confirm that the baptism for a 'Vincenzo incogniti genitori' baptized on Apr 17, 1848 is his baptism.

Glad you could make that connection.

FYI - Litteria Buda was a "Ruotara" - receiver at the wheel. Yes, she did receive the male child at the wheel at 7 AM, and he appeared to be a few hours old.
