Need help translating a birth cerficate please :)
I am absolutely thrilled to have finally found my gg grandfather Angelo Noli's birth certificate after years of searching as his birth year had been recorded incorrectly on his DC.Finally found it however I cant understand the handwriting in order to try and translate via google. Please can someone help.I would be so happy! Thanks.
Re: Need help translating a birth cerficate please :)
Angelo Noli was born at 3 a.m. on July 20, 1862 from the marriage of Giovanni Battista Noli, now deceased, who was a native of Genoa and, in life, a resident there (he died on May 25, 1862), and Maria Scotto, the daughter of Giovanni Battista (Scotto). She was a donna di casa (lady of the house; housewife), and native of Savona.

correction-birth of Angelo and death of his father was in 1872 and not in 1862 as I previously typed.

The name of Maria's father is not in G.B.Noli's death record.
Francesco is stated as Maria Scotto's father’s name in her marriage record, and should be the correct info, as the information in that record was given by the spouses themselves. The bride’s parents were also present at the request that their marriage publications be made, and those were made on July 12th and 19th, so if you locate that record, the info in that record should also be the same.
The info in Angelo's birth record was declared by a man named Bartolomeo Debarbieri, who actually was from the town of Maconesi, but who was living in Savona at the time of Angelo's birth. He may have been a neighbor or family friend and made the declaration of the birth because the infant’s father was deceased. Although he claimed to be present at the birth, childbearing was the realm of women. So he may have been in another room, or nearby the home, at the time of Angelo’s birth, but he was not physically in the room where Maria gave birth. Bartolomeo was also illiterate. After he orally reported the details about the birth at the town hall, the town clerk made the birth act, which was then read aloud to Bartolomeo and the two town hall witnesses, present at the town hall for its reading. So either Bartolomeo had reported the name of Maria’s father incorrectly, which appears to be the case, or he didn’t realize that the town clerk had recorded her father’s name incorrectly, when the act was read aloud to him and the two witnesses.

Hi Erudita
That is an informative reply and indeed makes perfect sense.I was just worried I would be searching for the wrong ancestors.Indeed yes I have heard of these records having incorrect info when that info is provided by a third party.
Thank you for clarifying.
