This is in a wedding packet.. I'm confused by something, and I need a translation. I think its say widow of Antonia votta. But not the wife I'm usually seeing. The wife Nunziata Fortunato, Is also in the packet (deceased) I'm just curious why this doesn't have both wives here.

ok I found wedding to Antonia Votta..they look like they are both old. So I guess he remarried after Nunziata's death. But still would love translation of the original death document. Thank you

Ellen

Marriage Feb 15, 1836 in the Parish of S Caterina of Gianuario Sangiorgio (notice the spelling of his first name here), age 64, and Antonia Votta, age 54. If you then go to the right page of image 27, you have a list of the documents the couple presented for their marriage.

#4 Nell'atto di morte della prima moglie dello sposa (in the act of death of the first wife of the groom);

#6 Nell'atto di morte del primo marito della sposa (in the act of death of the first husband of the bride).

The names of the deceased and dates of their deaths are not given.

The death record for Gianovario Sangiorgio, at age 60, son of dec Giambattista and dec Rosaria Gargano, widower of Antonia Votta on Jan 9, 1850.

Notice how his first name is now spelled differently. Also there is discrepancy in his age between his marriage to his second wife in 1836 and now almost 14 years later at the time of his death. He got younger instead of aging. There is no mention of his first wife in his death record. All spouses of the deceased are not always named in a death record. Sometimes only the current or last spouse, as in his death record.

Erudita,

It is confusing..The death record is in Michele's marriage packet. So this must be his father. But at 60 in 1850 means he was only 16 at Micheles birth. But marriage would put him almost 30 at time of his birth. I'm sure its the same person, maybe he looked good for his age LOL. The name difference I have seen alot..Sometimes its Gianovario and sometimes Gianuario. I don't know why but he is not the only relative this happens to. Since its in the same packet as Nunziata's death record, I'm going with it is Michele's father.

Thank you, you are always so helpful.

I was just looking at Michele's brother, his birth cert. He was born in 1816 and it says Gianovario is 33, which makes him 22 at Michele's birth in 1806. I guess until I find a birth record his age will be suspect.
