life of enlisted southern Italian peasant pre world war I

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

life of enlisted southern Italian peasant pre world war I

Post by GeneTree »

I found several forum military subjects in this forum but not quite to my need for information.

My wife's great grandfather enlisted in 1898 in Cosenza presumably for two years. He was married at that time. Besides clothes and food did these soldiers receive any pay he could send home to his wife?

Thanks for your help

You might like to know that Cosenza Military records are available to view online at your nearest Family History Center or an affiliated library.
