Hello everyone! My husband has an appointment in 2020 with the Philadelphia consulate to obtain JS citizenship. We have started gathering the necessary paperwork and I am beginning to think we should utilize some assistance with ordering & translating documents. Can anyone recommend a reputable person to help with this process? We got a quote of $6,500 from a firm who specializes in dual citizenship, but this seems a bit steep for what we need.
My husband's GGF was born in 1897 in the Salerno area (we've located his birth record but have not ordered the official copy), immigrated to the US in 1906, married a US citizen (with her own Italian lineage) in 1920 and had their daughter (my husband's GM) in 1923. The 1940 Census lists GGF as an Alien and he applied for Naturalization in 1940 but was denied in 1942. My husbands father was then born in the US in 1949.
From what I understand, all we need is birth/death/marriage certificates for each of the people in this direct line, and then a statement from US Immigration stating that the GGF was never naturalized. Is that correct? Thanks!

You can use VitalCheck to get most of your US documents. I think they are also expensive, but they make life easier. Definitely, get apostilles yourself. A service is much more costly.
I used avepally at fiverr for translations. Great translations, reasonably priced, and fast turnaround.

It appears the only Italian document you need you have already found. Order it from the commune in Italy where the GGF was born. The rest of the documents you can order yourself in the US. Then, if you need translation, just pay for that. You can get apostles yourself. That’s way too costly. A service wanted to charge me 600 euro for one Italian birth certificate and a marriage certificate. I walked into the commune in Taranto, Italy and asked for the documents. A week later the lady called me to come pick them up. My point, too expensive.
