Help with names/spelling

Post by delfgill »

Hi Everyone,

Any thoughts as to whether the Michele and Caterina in the marriage record are the same Michele and Caterina listed in these other records? Michele’s last name ends with an “I” in some records and an “O" in others.

I didn't have time to look at them all ---the first (1876 marriage) shows Michele as 19 =B ~1857
--The last (Lucia's 1887 birth) shows Michele as 30 = B~1857

The Molinari/Molinaro shouldn't be too bothersome if all the other data points fit. This time time period had some surname transitions in the area I'm familiar with as well (Iacovella to Iacovelli etc...)

Some where I read about the authorities trying to bring surnames to some conformity in this time period.......

Could there be another Michele/Caterina Vietri in the same town?

A snapshot of Michele’s age at each event:

At marriage 1876 = 19; listed as being born in Marsico
At daughter Lucia’s birth 1887 = 30
At daughter Maria’s birth 1889 = 27
At son Giovbattista’s marriage 1904 = 47
At daughter Lucia’s marriage 1906 = 48 (and he is listed as a custodian of animals?)
At daughter Maria’s marriage 1909 = 47
At daughter MariaRosa’s marriage 1909 = 49

In a different post, Tessa78 pointed out that the actual birth or death is given in the body of the record by the declarant(s). I didn’t realize this so my calculations might be off by a few days.
