Translate Sepino Marriage + Birth Record

Post by mnaccarato »

Any help translating the marriage record of my 2nd great-grandparents Margherita Ferrante and Angelomaria Pezzente, as well as the birth record of Margherita? Much appreciated.

Thank you Tessa! One question, in the birth record after "nella casa posta in" it says Sepino [word]. Do you know what the word following Sepino is? Also, does it say how old Concetta is?

And in the Marriage Records, what does 'The banns were posted on 6 and 13 September of the current year.' mean?

The words following nella casa posta in "sezione Casesparse" - the village of Case Sparse - which belongs to the Comune of Sepino.
Here is some information about the village.

Concetta's age is ot given in the birth act.

Before a marriage can take place it must be published/proclaimed to the town of the spouses to provide opportunity for anyone who might oppose the marriage to come forward. (such as an existing spouse, etc.)
The publication is made by a posting on the door of the town office on the 2 consecutive Sundays bbefore the civil ceremony.

Tessa - ooo, interesting! So, does that mean there were oppositions since it says bans posted or is that just the way of saying it was posted and no one responded?

The couple actually presented the certificate of publication of the banns [certificato delle pubblicazioni] which is an official acknowledgement by the official that the banns were posted and no opposition was made.
